Schlage® Keys – Copy Standard & High-Security Schlage Keys Securely
About Schlage: Schlage is another household name in locks, securing homes and businesses for over a century. The typical Schlage key (SC1 cut) is very common in U.S. homes and can be duplicated at most hardware stores. However, Schlage also produces high-security keys like the Primus and Everest series. These have patented designs – Primus keys, for example, have a second set of cuts (side bitting) that interact with a sidebar in the lock for extra security. Such keys usually come stamped with an ID number and require an authorization card or specific locksmith to copy, as Schlage controls the blanks and distribution. So, while you might easily copy a basic Schlage key, a Primus or Everest key usually won’t be cut without proof of ownership and often not at all by regular key cutters. Schlage’s high-security systems are often used in office buildings or upscale homes where key control is important.
Why Use Mikiz for Schlage Key Duplication:
- One-Stop Solution (Standard or Primus): Mikiz is equipped to duplicate any Schlage key, from the common SC1 house key to restricted Primus/Everest keys. If you have a standard Schlage, Mikiz offers pure convenience – just scan and duplicate, no more trips out. If you have a Primus/Everest, Mikiz handles the necessary verification and can cut a legitimate copy using original Schlage blanks. This is something few others offer online. You don’t have to figure out who can copy your “Do Not Duplicate” Schlage key – Mikiz does it for you, legally and securely.
- Maintains High-Security Protocol: For a Primus or Everest key, Mikiz will ask you to verify ownership (for example, by entering the key’s serial or your card info through the app). We uphold Schlage’s key control policies by ensuring only authorized users can order these duplicates. We even source official Schlage Primus blanks for the cut, so your duplicate is as genuine as one from Schlage’s factory. This way, you get the spare key you need while respecting the security intent of Schlage’s system.
- Cost-Effective for Patented Keys: High-security Schlage keys can be pricey when obtained through dealers – often $20–$30 or more per key. Mikiz offers a more budget-friendly option. Our pricing is competitive (and you see it upfront in the app), often beating locksmith retail prices, especially when factoring in the convenience and time saved. We also frequently run promotions like free shipping, adding more value. So you’re not only saving hassle but potentially money too.
- Precision and Reliability: All Schlage keys, whether standard or Primus, require accurate cutting to work smoothly. Mikiz’s robotic cutters are calibrated to Schlage’s exact specifications. That means your duplicate will have crisp, clean cut depths and spacing. No off-center cuts or burrs that can happen with a worn hardware store machine. The result is a key that glides into your lock and turns without jiggling – even for a complex Primus key, which has very tight tolerances.
- Full Transparency and Security: Mikiz keeps you informed at every step. You’ll get notifications when your key scan is received, when it’s approved, and when it’s shipped. For high-security Schlage keys, we also keep an audit trail – each duplicate is logged to your account, so you know how many copies have been made and when. Your key images and data are handled with strict confidentiality (we never tie the key data to your address in the app, to avoid any security risk in case of data compromise). Essentially, you get the convenience of digital duplication with the peace of mind that the process is locked down.

How to Duplicate Your Schlage Key (Standard, Primus, or Everest):
- Scan the Key: After installing Mikiz, use it to take photos of your Schlage key. For a normal key, just a clear shot of both sides is enough. For a Primus/Everest key, the app will instruct you to also capture the side of the key to see the side bitting pattern (those are the extra notches along the side of a Primus key). Don’t worry, the app prompts will make it easy.
- Verification (if High-Security): Mikiz will identify if your key is a restricted type. For example, if it detects the Primus side milling, it will label it accordingly. In such cases, we might ask for the key’s authorization code or a photo of the key authorization card, if you have one, or other verification like a billing address match. This is to ensure compliance. Once you provide any needed info, Mikiz confirms the order. (For standard keys, this step is bypassed – they’re automatically confirmed since no special restrictions apply.)
- Order & Delivery: Select how many copies you’d like. Mikiz then cuts your Schlage key using the appropriate blank (e.g., a SC1 blank for standard or the multi-cut Primus blank for Primus). Even specialized keys are cut with our specialized equipment, so they come out exact. We then ship the keys to you. When they arrive, test them in your lock. You’ll find that even a Primus duplicate from Mikiz will operate the lock as smoothly as your original does – because we matched every groove and ridge. In the rare event of an issue, our support is ready to help or replace the key. Enjoy the flexibility of having spare Schlage keys, and remember you can use Mikiz 24/7 if you ever need more.
