Medeco® Keys – Cutting-Edge High Security Keys

Duplicate now!

About Medeco: Medeco is a U.S.-based high-security lock manufacturer and a legend in the industry. Medeco locks (common in government buildings, hospitals, and high-security applications) use angled cut keys and special rotating pin tumblers, which make them extremely pick-resistant. Medeco keys are patented and tightly controlled – in fact, Medeco’s entire business model is about preventing unauthorized key duplication. Getting a Medeco key copied typically requires going back to the locksmith who issued the system or another authorized Medeco dealer, and even then, only an authorized individual (with signature on file) can request it. You often need a Medeco key control card or to be registered as an authorized user to cut a new key. In short, if you walk into a random locksmith with a Medeco key, chances are they will refuse to copy it or simply cannot if they don’t have the specialized Medeco key-cutting machine and blanks. This provides great security, but as the legitimate owner, it can be a headache to get spares.

Why Mikiz for Medeco Key Duplication:

  • Legitimate Copies for Verified Owners: Mikiz offers a solution for the rightful key owners who need spares. Using our app, you can securely request a Medeco key copy. We will verify your identity and authorization in line with Medeco’s requirements (for example, we might require a photo of your Medeco key control card or other proof of ownership). We strictly adhere to Medeco’s ethos: if you’re not authorized, we won’t cut it. But if you are, we provide a convenient channel to get your key without the usual friction.
  • Advanced Duplication Technology: Medeco keys are challenging to duplicate because of their angled cuts – each cut can be at a particular rotation (left, right, or center) in addition to a depth. Mikiz’s system is capable of decoding these angles from your key scan and our technicians/programs utilize specialized Medeco-approved code machines to cut the key at correct angles. This is not something a normal key copier can do; Mikiz invests in the right tech to make sure your Medeco duplicate is perfect. The new key will operate the unique mushroom-shaped pins and sidebar in a Medeco lock just like the original does.
  • Official Blanks and Compliance: We use genuine Medeco blanks or authorized equivalents for all duplicates. Medeco has different keyways (M3, Medeco3 Biaxial, X4, etc.), and we will match your keyway so the blank fits your lock exactly. Because Medeco keys are patented (Medeco M4 is patented through 2040, for instance), using authentic blanks ensures we aren’t violating patents and that the key will uphold the lock’s UL437 high-security rating. Essentially, you get an official key copy – we just do it on-demand via our service.
  • Privacy and Security: We treat Medeco key data with the highest confidentiality. Mikiz never links your key to a physical address in our database, and we purge sensitive data after fulfilling the order. Additionally, we ship Medeco duplicates in neutral packaging, and typically with tracking and optional signature required (given the sensitive nature). You can also request that we ship to a local FedEx/UPS pickup location if you prefer not to have it delivered to your door. These measures ensure that even the process of duplication doesn’t introduce new security risks.
  • Respecting Key Control: Some Medeco systems require that even after a key is cut, it’s only released to certain individuals. Mikiz logs who requested the key (the verified account) and will only send it to the address on file or another verified address you approve. This way, if you’re managing Medeco keys for a facility, you have a record of all duplicates made through Mikiz (similar to the log your locksmith might keep). You remain in control of how many keys exist and who has them.

How to Copy Your Medeco Key with Mikiz:

  1. Initiate a Secure Scan: In the Mikiz app, select the Medeco key duplication option. The app may have extra security prompts for Medeco. Take clear photos of your key – because of the angled cuts, try to get good lighting and maybe a slight angle that shows the cut profiles (the app will guide you). You’ll likely also be asked for the key control info: this could be a code from a key card or the locksmith’s info who issued the key originally. Provide as much info as you can to help verify and identify the key type.
  2. Verification Step: Mikiz will review the request. For Medeco keys, this might not be fully automated – a security specialist might double-check that the request is legit. They may reach out via the app for additional verification (for example, asking for proof you are associated with the building or lock in question, if applicable). This is to protect against illicit duplication attempts, in line with Medeco’s policies. Once verified and approved, the duplication moves forward.
  3. Cutting & Delivery: Using the scanned data and any code provided, Mikiz will cut the Medeco key. This is done with specialized equipment that can set the correct angles for each cut (Medeco keys often have cuts at 20° left or right, etc.). After cutting, the key is tested in a Medeco gauge or we verify the code correspondence. The key is then shipped to you with high security: typically via tracked mail, in a plain package, and possibly requiring a signature or ID upon delivery (depending on what you request for safety). When your Medeco key arrives, test it in the lock – it should turn smoothly and all the pins should align perfectly, maintaining the lock’s security. You’ve now got a precious spare key in case of emergencies, obtained in a secure yet convenient way.

(Fun fact: Medeco often educates that “Do Not Duplicate” on a key is a request, not law – their true defense is their patented key control. Mikiz works within that system by ensuring proper authorization. So you can be confident that using Mikiz to copy your Medeco key is responsible and secure.)
